I'd Like To Make A Change, But . . .
~ By Jan Tincher

I'd like to make a change, but . . . it's too terrifying . . .

Change can also be exciting, though . . . can't it?

For instance, exciting changes could be a new car, a new romance, a new promotion. These are things to which most people would look forward.

But, then again, change can be terrifying . . .

For instance, facing a new, stricter boss, losing a love, death in a family, moving to a strange town.

These are things to which most people wouldn't necessarily look forward.

Change can be either, depending on your outlook.

For instance:
What if you got a new car, but you were terrified of driving with it in traffic?
What if you had a new romance, but you were terrified of losing him or her?
What if you got a promotion, but you were terrified your performance wouldn't be up to par?

It would take some of the excitement out, wouldn't it?

Or:

What if your new boss was nice?
What if you lost your love, but a new one showed up?
What if a loved one died, but you were shown love through all your wonderful friends?
What if the new, strange town brought you wonderful neighbors who were happy to show you around?

Love, happiness, joy are where you find it. However, if you don't purposely look for it, you won't purposely find it. Curious, isn't it?

Fear, despair, hopelessness is where you find it. However, if you don't purposely look for it, you purposely won't find it. Curious, isn't it?

What are you looking for? That's what you'll find.

Change is exactly what you imagine it to be: exciting or terrifying. So why not make change exciting?

Look for the excitement in change (and, yes, sometimes you have to look really hard), but if you're looking for it, that's what you'll find.

Thanks for reading,

Jan
